One of summer’s boating perks is looking skyward as fireworks explode over the water. We will compiled a list of firework celebrations scheduled as of press time of our June issue. We will also be making updates to our listing in our July issue.
Displays are weather dependent and times are usually scheduled for dusk or shortly thereafter.
Always confirm details with the organizers before heading out, get an updated marine weather report, and check current charts. Leave early to ensure a good spot to raft up or drop anchor, keep clear of designated security/safety zones, and seek out the harbormaster or other enforcement personnel for their latest info on wind direction — you don’t want to be under falling ashes.
Skippers should be comfortable operating their vessels at night. Know the return route, keep a keen eye on other boats and wave activity, and listen to the VHF radio for local chatter and alerts about rapidly changing conditions.
